Alexander Kaimbacher

Alexander Kaimbacher was born in Villach and now lives with his family in Vienna. He studied singing, acting, Waldorf education, theater, film and media studies. Since 1998, Alexander Kaimbacher has worked as a freelance opera and concert singer and was an ensemble member of the Vienna and Bavarian State Opera. He is a professor of singing at the Anton Bruckner Private University in Linz and teaches singing at the Vienna State Opera`s school. His particular strength lies in an intensive design of word and music in character roles such as Loge, Candide, Eisenstein, Celebrant, Aschenbach. In 2019 he made his role debut at the Zurich Opera House as the holy drinker Piet vom Fass in György Ligeti`s Le Grand Macabre. In 2021, the painter followed in Berg`s LULU at the Enescu Festival in Bucharest, in Biel/Solothurn Eiger by Fabian Müller, in Bozen Toteis by Manuela Kerer and in Bielefeld Egmont by Christian Jost. There he also made his role debut as Parsifal in 2023, staged in the new format of a cinema opera. In 2023, he also took on the role of HIOB in the new opera of the same name by Bernhard Lang and Michael Sturminger at the Klagenfurt City Theater, based on the novel by Joseph Roth, which was awarded the Austrian Theater Prize in September 2024. The coming season is all about Johann Strauss, with Fledermaus in Israel and at the Theater an der Wien, as well as Indigo and the 40 Robbers in all 23 districts of Vienna at the Strauss Festival Vienna. Most recently he sang at the Bregenz Festival in a co-production with the Neue Oper Wien in the world premiere of Die Judith von Shimoda by Fabian Panisello, at the Komische Oper Berlin Offenbach`s Die Banditen, and in Hamburg, Cologne and Paris Die Soldaten by Bernd Alois Zimmermann.
